What is Be Ready by 5?

Be Ready by 5 is a collaboration of organizations in Montgomery County, Ohio committed to working together to help prepare families with children ages 0-5 for success in Kindergarten and beyond. We are dedicated to ensuring that all children in Montgomery County live a healthy and successful life by improving the education, health, and wellness support children and their families receive within the first 5 years of life.

Preschool Promise

At Preschool Promise we are transforming early care and education, ensuring that every child can have equitable, high-quality, affordable care and education from pregnancy through age 5, with the goal that every child in Montgomery County, OH is ready for success in Kindergarten and beyond.

Dayton Children’s

At Dayton Children’s Pediatrics, your child will see doctors and nurses who make sure they are growing, as well as take care of them when they are sick. This is called primary care – because it’s the first place your child needs to go for health care! Our doctors care for about 12,000 patients, from newborns to 18-year-olds, providing comprehensive well-child services, treatment for illnesses and medical conditions, and referrals for specialty care. Our team also provides developmental and mental health screenings, lead and anemia screenings, and vaccinations.

Dayton Metro Library informs, inspires and empowers community members of all ages. DML helps young children prepare for school through early literacy activities and resources such as books, technology, programs, and community resources. The Greater Dayton Area Hospital Association (GDAHA) is an non-profit association that focuses on helping ensure quality health care in the region through partnerships with area hopsitals and healthcare organizations. Help me Grow Brighter Futures, the Dayton Regional Pathways Community HUB, and Healthy Beginnings at Home operate under GDAHA’s health initiatives portfolio to connect these essential programs to healthcare partners and community members in GDAHA’s 11-county region.

Miami Valley Child Development Centers is our region’s Head Start Agency. MVCDC provides free and low-cost early learning and child care to children from age 6 weeks to 5. We have Family Support Specialists, Home Visitors, and Coaches who partner with families to help you become financially stable and self-supporting.

Five Rivers Health Centers

This is a free program that offers support and help for pregnant women, moms, dads, and babies to help them have healthy lives. Our team assists with funding and applying for insurance, as well as education and information about how both parents play a role in pre-pregnancy, labor delivery and daily parenting of your baby.

Catholic Social Services

For over 100 years, Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley (CSSMV) has provided family strengthening programs in the Greater Dayton region. Through CSSMV’s Pregnancy & Parenting Support services, Community Health Navigators provide supportive services, resource connection, and education to pregnant women and families with infants to improve outcomes for mothers and babies in Montgomery County. Additional parenting services include a free, monthly Co-Parenting class and in 2025, the addition of evidenced based home visiting services for families with children age 0-3.
