It’s time to register your child for Kindergarten! We’re here to help you understand the steps you need to take, when and how to register, and what documents you need to be ready! If you aren’t sure what school district you’re in, use the online tool from the state of Ohio to find your school district based on your address.
Application dates to register for Kindergarten are different for each school district. Your local school district should display detailed information on their website.
Your child must be at least 5 years old by August 1st or September 30th depending on your local school district to register for and enroll in Kindergarten. Each school district should display their enrollment date on their website.
Depending on your school district, you may have the ability to register your child online or in person. If online, create an account and follow the instructions to submit your child’s information and registration.
If you register your child in person, check your district’s open hours and schedule an appointment to finalize registration.
During the enrollment period, ensure that you have the proper documents ready to share with the school district to enroll your child. These documents may include, but are not limited to:
Typically, children are enrolled for Kindergarten in the district they live in. Sometimes, school districts will accept children outside of their home school district for open enrollment after completing an application. Each school district has different rules for open enrollment, but should list this information on their website.
